"The best convention ever"

There are hidden Elizabethan aficionados in our membershipwho not only embraced the scientific program at our successfulConvention but participated enthusiastically in the social and sporting events. Her Excellency, Ms Quentin Bryce AC Governor Generalof Australia stated in her Opening Speech — “I want you to know how delighted I am to join you today: to commend the strengthof your Association, your professional connections and sharing ofknowledge; to experience the energy and camaraderie of a gathering like this one, where dialogue and development abound; and to indulge in a little Shakespeare. If, as Rosalind concludes, “tis true that a good play needs no epilogue,” perhaps a good convention needs no opening? Nevertheless, I feel honoured to be delivering your“prologue” today, on this stage where many players will have their exits and their entrances, no doubt with many another Shakespearean flourish to their oratory”.

The Governor General concluded with “Let me encourage each one of you to explore that spirit and follow its leadings; to find those enriching and rewarding paths that take you into a place of truest and fullest humanity. My friends, your convention will provide ample space to reflect on these possibilities; on yourprofessional offerings and futures; and to celebrate your leadership and contribution. I thank you for inviting me today, and I take great pleasure in officially opening your Australian Dental Association New South Wales Convention 2009”.

With over 450 delegates attending and great support from individual companies from the industry, it leads many to channel their inner Juan Antonio Samaranch to declare “the best Convention ever”. A great vote of thanks to the local organising committee lead by Drs Jo Gwyther, Murray Thomas and Colin Seaniger plus the extraordinary talents of our CPD team lead by Todd Redwood, as without their efforts, it would not have achieved as it did.

Australian Dental  Association (NSW Branch)

ADA NSW
The NSW Branch of the Australian Dental Association (ADA NSW) is the professional association of dentists in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. We provide services for members to enable them to deliver the best possible standard of care to the community.

As the peak dental body in NSW and the ACT, we work with the State and Territory governments to ensure all members of the community are able to access the dental services they need. ADA NSW has more than 3,500 members across all work sectors, which represents approximately 85 per cent of registered dentists.

NSW Dental Assistants’
(Professional) Association

DAA
The NSW Dental Assistants’ (Professional) Association works for the general advancement of their members and to further the professional, social and industrial welfare of dental assistants and receptionists. The NSW DAA is excited to be joining with ADA NSW to incorporate their successful “Big Day Out” into the Convention programme. The provision of an educational stream especially for dental assistants at this event makes this the best opportunity ever for dental staff to participate, learn and network at a dental convention.
